Join us this Sunday, December 9, at 11 am, to consider the world through the eyes of children, with educator and long time Spirit of Life UU member, LeAnn Kahl . “Wouldn’t it be nice,” asks Kahl, ” to reconnect with that wonder and awe children express when looking at the world around them. The older we get we often look at the world around us with a more jaundiced eye; perhaps we should take a lesson from our younger members.”
Youth and adult religious education programs begin at 10 am. In Adult Discussion, we’ll consider “Why Falsehoods are Easy to Believe.
This Sunday also marks what we hope will be the start of a new holiday tradition at Spirit of Life UU: Our Cookie Swap! An apropos companion to our service, our Cookie Swap provides a fun opportunity to get into the holiday spirit, and do something good at the same time.
Bake (or buy) two dozen holiday cookies and bring them to church in two separate containers (make sure that one is a container that you do not want returned to you!). You get back one dozen assorted cookies to enjoy. The other dozen will be wrapped and donated to a local food bank to brighten the holidays for deserving families.
The more cookies you bring, the more you can take home with you! For every two dozen you bring, you’ll get one dozen back and we’ll have more to donate. The more different kinds of cookies we get, the more interesting it will be. If your family has a cherished cookie recipe that makes your holidays complete, now is the time to get baking and share it. Please bring along the recipe that you used, or email it to Catherine Paalvast at golddog4me@yahoo.com. We will compile the recipes and distribute them in time for any other last-minute holiday baking you plan to do – and we expect to have a good time eating them, too!
