Sunday Sermon – January 6: Preparing for our Lives

Guest speaker, Jim Moir, a former Spirit of Life UU member visits to share his insights in the service, “Preparing for Our Lives”, where he asks “How does having an over-arching purpose make a difference in our lives? From where does such a purpose arise, and how can we nurture it? As people of faith, how can we prepare one another to be more intentional in our thoughts and deeds?”

Great questions we look forward to considering together, at 11am in our Peace Chapel.   Youth and adult religious education programs being at 10 am. In adult discussion we’ll be considering the intellect:  Prof David Deutsch, a physicist at Oxford University believes that “that the whole problem of developing artificial intelligence is a matter of philosophy, not computer science or neurophysiology, and that the philosophical progress that will be essential to their future integration is also a prerequisite for developing them in the first place,” raising the question of just what constitutes intelligence in the first place.
