Sunday Service October 5 – 11AM: Apple Cider Doughnuts

Rev Rus Cooper Dowda takes us on a family journey, with “Apple Cider Doughnuts — To Share Or Not To Share?”

“How do you start with a dozen doughnuts for your Mamaw but end up with a pact to never tell the now missing doughnuts were all originally hers?” muses Rev. Cooper Dowda. ” Was it really just three people (ages three and thirty-five) riding a long road home from the Apple Festival? Or, did Mamaw get swindled out of her surprise treats by convenience and rationalization?” Come hear the deeper story.

Our  Community Conversations adult discussion program begins at 10am, in the Kerwin Reading Room adjacent to the kitchen. This Sunday, join us to talk about how our Faith influences our Education and Politics.  A recent Pew Research study found some interesting differences between what politically conservative and liberal families prioritize in education. According to the Washington Post evaluation of the study, “Liberals are much more likely to preach the value of tolerance, while conservatives emphasize religious faith.” We’ll consider and discuss.

Youth programs begin at 11:30, after the Story for All Ages in our service.  We’ll be continuing our look at our Seven Principals with an examination of our 4th Principle, a free and responsible search for truth and meaning.
