Celebration of Life for Rev Alec Craig, Minister Emeritus on March 8 at 1pm

Rev. Alec Craig

Please join us at Spirit of Life UU on March 8 at 1pm for a special Celebration of Life for our beloved Minister Emeritus Alec Craig, who passed away last summer.  We’ll be sharing memories and reflections about a warm, wonderful and cherished part of our church family.  The service will be officiated by the Rev. Jennie Barrington, who was mentored by Rev. Craig during her internship and her ministry career.

Rev. Craig was the minister emeritus of Spirit of Life UU, and the St. Petersburg Unitarian Universalist Church and part-time minister for congregations her and at the Brooksville Fellowship.   His career in education as teacher and administrator included school districts in Maine, Massachusetts, Vermont, and New Hampshire. He concentrated on special education issues for much of his career. After retiring from his career as an educator, Dr. Craig enrolled at Bangor Theological Seminary in Maine to prepare for the Unitarian Universalist ministry.

He was ordained at the church in Sangerville in 1989 and became its minister. Alex was also the minister for the congregation in nearby Dexter, ME. for many years. He moved to Florida in 2001 and became the half-time minister of the St. Petersburg Universalist Church the next year. He was a member of the St. Petersburg Interfaith Council and active in many local ecumenical and charitable efforts. He was also a volunteer teacher of safe driving courses for the American Association of Retired Persons.
