Sunday Sermon Sept. 27 11am: A UU in Utah – Reflections on Mormonism

5262-mormon_book_of400x200.630w.tnSpirit of Life UU president, Diana Dechichio,  shares her thoughts and experiences on the Mormon faith after a longtime stay in Salt Lake City.

“I learned a lot about the Mormon faith from my coworkers,” she says. ” In this service I will share what I learned from both historical and personal perspectives.”

In Adult Discussion, at 10am, we’ll consider the “Citizen Preschooler” with a look at Project Zero, which “believes that children as young as 3 have ideas about how to make a city more fair, safe, and livable” and calls on early-childhood educators “ to tap into their students’ knowledge about their neighborhoods, get the children to brainstorm ways to make their communities better, and facilitate the sharing of their ideas with the general public and policy-makers.”

In our Youth Lifespan Religious Exploration program, starting after the Story for All Ages, around 11:30am, it’s Stewardship Sunday and we’re going on a hike down our own Burrell Road for some nature watching and our quarterly Adopt-a-Spot clean up!

Spirit of Life Unitarian Universalists is covenantal faith community located at 18412 Burrell Road in Odessa, FL that welcomes seekers from all spiritual, theological and philosophical backgrounds who wish to join in a free, rational and responsible search for truth and meaning in their lives.

Join us after the service, at 1pm, to hear guest speaker, Doug Hughes, speak about his recent act of civil disobedience, it’s personal costs and our civic responsibilities.

All are welcome!
