Sunday Sermon Nov. 1 – 11am: Halloween, Etc.

samhain_altarRev. Rus Cooper-Dowda leads us on an examination of the multifaceted fall celebrations of Samhain, Day of the Dead, All Saints Day, Halloween, All Soul’s Day, Daylight Savings Time, Harvest Celebrations.

What makes this date so popular? Its nearest busy competitor is Christmas Day. When we really need our seasonal rituals, we REALLY need them. Why is that? Does our UU literature provide clues? Let us contemplate this together.

At 10am, in adult discussion, we’ll be considering FQ:a Freedom Quotient.  English Philosopher & Journalist
Stephen Cave in a recent Aeon article says it would be helpful to have a free will guage, to show how much free will we have – and how to get more.   Join us to consider the Free Will Scale. Youth stay in service for today’s sermon.
