Service Notes for Sunday January 21: The Shadow Knows!

January 21 marks a busy Sunday at Spirit of Life Unitarian Universalists. World Religions class is at 10am, and at 11am, guest speaker Rev. Mary Gear, visiting from First Unitarian Portland, shares the sermon, “The Shadow Knows.”

“Psychologists say that there is rich opportunity for growth in the things that we deny or ignore – our shadow. What would it be like if we as a country were to embrace this opportunity?” She asks.

The Spirit of Life UU Choir, the Joyful Noisies will sing today at the service.

After the service, join us for the first ever Committee Faire! Have you ever wondered what makes Spirit of Life “tick”? How the grass gets mowed and how the services are planned? Are you interested in finding a way to participate but don’t know how? We are starting a couple of new committees and could use your input. And you’ll get to learn more about our existing committees and projects, too!

This is also the date of our 3rd Sunday Potluck, and if you’re really inspired to get involved, you can sit in on the Spirit of Life UU Board Meeting at 1pm.

Some upcoming dates of note:

  • Valentine’s Day Party – February 17
  • Annual Passover Seder – April 7
  • Annual Meeting – May 6
