Rev. Rus Cooper Dowda takes us on a journey of musical exploration, looking at the Unitarian Universalist hymn, “Spirit of Life” and the traditional Christian hymn, “Amazing Grace”, both UU favorites from our hymnal.
“We can both soar with them and be comforted, too. What do they have in common? How do they differ in ways besides age and length? Why does the author Ms. McDade not even think her “Spirit of Life” IS a hymn? How do they fit into the writer Ann LaMott’s belief there are only three prayers in the whole world: “Help Me,” Thank You,” and “Wow!” Let us tell you why they both fit into Easter so well.”
World Religions class meets at 10am prior to the service, and all are welcome to join us for coffee and conversation before and after service.
