Public Witness at UUA General Assembly

This Sunday, November 4, at 11am, Rev. Rus Cooper-Dowda leads the sermon, “UU Witnessing: The Road To Emmaus Experience.”

“It helps to look at witnessing as another name for sharing the best of our Unitarian Universalist experience, says Cooper-Dowda. ” We do our best witnessing by example not by knocking on doors or passing out pamphlets to college students during high school spring break. How to deal with that it takes longer and you may never see the end result? ”

Choir practice follows the service.

Angel Tree

For the past 2 years we have participated in a holiday fundraiser sponsored by the Guardian Ad Litem foundation. We receive gift tags or “angels” with the ages and wants or needs of local area children who might not otherwise have holiday gifts. We will put up our tree and hang our angel cards on the tree. Each person/family of SLUU who wishes to participate will take an angel card (please sign it out first so we know who has which one) and shop for your child or children according to the wants/needs listed on the card. No need to go overboard, remember these are kids who don’t typically get much. The items will go under our tree and the organization will pick everything up on December 9 and deliver them to the kids.

Upcoming Events

  • The “All Church Sunday Lunch Bunch”  will be held on Sunday November 4 after choir practice.
  • Sunday November 18 Service with Bill and Eli Perra – The Perras are singers/songwriters that have been performing frequently on the UU circuit. Eli & Bill will lead the service and then entertain us with a concert. Invite your family and friends. This is our Monthly Potluck day, we would like to have an “enhanced” potluck. Please bring more to share than you might usually, this will be lunch for all of us.   • Tuesday– Gardening with Loretta 4-6pm AND the last Saturday of each month
  • Wednesday – Building & Grounds Maintenance with Kathy 8-11am.
