Share the Plate Update
For the month of August’s Share the Plate, we will be supporting We Love Lake Street! They are helping rebuild business on Lake Street in Minneapolis, MN. that were damaged or destroyed by the civil uprising after George Floyd’s death. They are providing grants in which 86% of the businesses receiving awards are owned by Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC), or Immigrants and 81% have fewer than 10 employees.
Share the plate is now a month-long collection. Every Sunday we will collect for a charity instead of just once a month. When you send your weekly contribution please consider sending a little bit more.
To encourage charitable giving in 2020, the CARES Act includes two tax provisions that rewards people who donate to charity. As always, please consult with your tax specialist for any tax related advice or items. Please don’t forget to send in your weekly contributions either by a check in the mail or via Paypal. If you use Paypal to donate, please list the Payment Type as “Personal Payment” (SLUU will be charged a fee if you use “Goods and Services”). *Be sure to specify what portion is for Share the Plate and what is for your pledge/weekly donation.
Cultivate Life Through Gardening
Did you know that plants can help you grow as a person? Cool right?! Whether you have a lot of experience growing and cultivating plants, are just a beginner, or have an interest in finding out more, you are welcome in joining the Spirit of Life UU Community Garden. Join the Facebook group for the community garden, volunteer to adopt a garden bed by emailing Gary or Kathy and come and experience the therapeutic power of gardening! Successful produce might lead to a roadside farm stand in the future. #Exciting
Keeping You Posted

Do you want to attend more zoom check-in/happy hour socials? The Thursday evening check-in/happy hours have been so popular and successful that we are looking to add another one (morning coffee? ☕ afternoon tea-time?). If you are willing to host the Zoom social, please let us know and we will assist you in setting up the zoom link if needed.
Questions? Comments? Do you have announcements to share? Please send to Diana by Tuesdays to be included in the Mid-week Newsbyte.
