December at Spirit of Life UU

Our services and gatherings continue to be virtual for the foreseeable future, but we’ve got a wonderful collection of Sunday sermons on tap, and some sweet safe socially distanced opportunities to join together over the holidays.

December Services

Sunday services are held at 11 am via Zoom. Please email Diana at spiritolifeuu@gmail.com for Zoom link and with any questions.

December 6 – “How to heal your own heart through a tough election cycle and a continuing pandemic,”  with Mindy Simmons

For our first Sunday in December, our sermon will be led by Mindy Simmons, and provide a look at ways of refocusing our energy and giving our self the breath we need to heal form the frustrations and the uncertainty of these times.

December 13 –  Chanukah, with Sue Eckstein, Diana Dechichio

Join us to celebrate and explore the traditions of the Jewish holiday with us.

December 20 – The Gift, by Rev. Bob Murphy

Christmas is very close.  What’s the best gift that Spirit of Life UU members can give each other?  Visiting Minister, Rev. Murphy, will share a story of the season and then we’ll discuss the future for congregations and the the new year.  What’s needed?  What’s possible?

December 27 – Same Challenges: Different Year,  by Roddy Biggs

With the New Year right around the corner, we all are faced many challenges, some old and some new, or a mix of both. Challenges from addictions, violence, corruption, envy, strife, brokenness, COVID, and the list goes on. Join us as we consider and explore ways to work to address our time’s challenges and look towards the new year with hope. What does this year call us to do moving forward? What are you leaving behind in the old year, and what are you bringing with you to the new year. Roddy Biggs is a Middle Tennessee State University student finishing their bachelor’s degree in Religious Studies before pursuing seminary in the Fall of 2021.
