Our services continue to be held virtually via Zoom. Speakers and sermon titles are listed below for each Sunday in May. If you would like to attend our remote services email spiritolifeuu@gmail.com for the link or to subscribe to our weekly newsletter. The Worship Committee will be listing the speakers for the month in Lifelines.  The topic will be indicated in weekly Newsbytes each week.  

  • May 2 – “Oprah and Me”, with the Rev. Bob Murphy – What lessons can Unitarian Universalists learn from Oprah Winfrey? How do we find health and happiness? Rev. Bob Murphy will discuss the search for personal and social wellness in today’s America – Annual Meeting after service
  • May 9 – Join us to Celebrate the Mothers in our Lives, with Bonnie Dassing
  • May 16 – Speaker Rev Paul Johnson
  • May 23 – Speaker Rev. Patrick Munsell
  • May 30 – Speaker Roddy Biggs

Parish Life

General Assembly will be held this year virtually again in June. This is the largest gathering of UU’s in the world and is a powerful experience. SLUU regrets we cannot afford to pay the conference fee for our delegates however it is a great honor to represent our church. Please contact Diana at SpiritoLifeUU@gmail.com if you are interested. Serving as a volunteer waives the conference fee.


The West Central Cluster of Unitarian Universalists Churches of Florida has been recreated.  We are putting together social justice workshops.  If you are interested in attending one or more of these or and/or you have topic that interests you please reach out to Tobi Weisbond via SpiritoLifeUU@gmail.com.


Here is something exciting: The SANDBARR VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE has built their courts and have started practices!

Share the Plate for May

Our May Share the Plate charity is Feeding Tampa Bay. Feeding Tampa Bay is leading the movement to end hunger, rallying our community together to create a healthier, more capable Tampa Bay and beyond.

Food insecurity can affect anyone: our neighbors, coworkers, the elderly, and classmates. Many people who need our help work hard day in and day out, but were one layoff, tragedy or natural disaster away from needing assistance. We embrace our similarities and differences alike to reinforce the strength of our impact. We honor and serve all of our neighbors compassionately and free of prejudice.

Please be sure to let us know what portion of your Spirit of Life donations you would like to assign to Feeding Tampa Bay.
