May 30 Sermon: For Love & Country

On Sunday, May 31 at 11am, guest speaker and seminary student, Roddy Biggs joins remotely from Tennessee with reflections on Memorial Day.

Why risk it all to die in the end for something you love? What does it all mean? This Memorial Day weekend we will reflect on the lives of those who pay the ultimates scarifies with and in love for our Country. How might we as UU’s in the 21st century honor the great legacies that have been left behind but not forgotten.

Email for the Zoom link to join us virtually for this sermon.

They study and work towards ordination in UU ministry. Roddy is currently a member of the First UU Church of Nashville. They are a worship associate, a lay minister on the pastoral care team, and serves as co-chair for the Social Justice Ministries at the church.

Share the Plate for May

Our May Share the Plate charity is Feeding Tampa Bay. Feeding Tampa Bay is leading the movement to end hunger, rallying our community together to create a healthier, more capable Tampa Bay and beyond.

Food insecurity can affect anyone: our neighbors, coworkers, the elderly, and classmates. Many people who need our help work hard day in and day out, but were one layoff, tragedy or natural disaster away from needing assistance. We embrace our similarities and differences alike to reinforce the strength of our impact. We honor and serve all of our neighbors compassionately and free of prejudice.

Please be sure to let us know what portion of your Spirit of Life donations you would like to assign to Feeding Tampa Bay.
